Jessica Eye is an American mixed martial artist born on the 28th of July 1986. She fights in the UFC women’s flyweight division, but previously fought at bantamweight. When she was 16 years old, her and her father got run over by a drunk driver. Jessica Eye was recovering in bed for three months from among other things, a broken back.
The injuries made her seek out martial arts.
Jessica Eye’s career before the UFC
Jessica Eye made her amateur MMA debut in June of 2008. She fought five time as an amateur and was undefeated, winning the NAAFS amateur championships in 2009, the first of it’s kind for women. She defeated Barb Honchak as an amateur.
She made her pro MMA debut in 2010 and won the fight by TKO in the 2nd round. She won two more fights and won the Ring of Combat 130 lbs championship. She then fought Aisling Daly for the flyweight belt in NAAFS, but lost by submission in the 2nd round.
After her first pro loss, Eye won 7 fights in a row, defeating tough fighters like Zoila “Warrior Princess” Frausto, Angela Magana and Carina Damm. She signed with the UFC with a record of 10-1.

Jessica Eye made her UFC debut against Sarah Kaufman and won by split decision, the decision was overturned when Eye tested positive for THC. She lost her next fight by decision against Alexis Davis before she won in convincing fashion against Leslie Smith, punching Smith until her ear exploded and the referee stopped the fight.
After the win Eye has lost 4 fights in a row, all of them close and all of them against top competition. She was defeated by Julianna Peña, Miesha Tate, Sara McMann and Bethe Correia.
After the 4 losses in a row she decided to change weight classes to the newly minted women’s flyweight division.
